More on the contenders…
For the Gunners
Former Arsenal & England International Footballer & Pundit RAY PALOUR
Ray Parlour is most famous for his time at Arsenal FC, where he played for 14 years, enjoying remarkable success during his time at the club, winning a league cup, three league titles and two FA Cups as well as playing in the Champions League and UEFA Cup. In addition to his successful career at club level, he won 10 England caps. He is now a pundit on television, as well as on radio stations BBC Radio 5 Live and
Talksport.
"Often regarded as one of Arsenal's unsung heroes"
For Spurs
The greatest English goal scorer of his generation JIMMY GREAVES
One of the most naturally gifted and prolific strikers of any era, Jimmy Greaves was born to score goals and in an iconic career that spanned three glorious decades, that is exactly what he did with an unerring regularity for club and country. In the famous white of Tottenham Hotspur, he was to truly establish himself as one of the game’s greats. Greaves found his spiritual home at White Hart Lane and his arrival in north London was the beginning of a nine-year love affair between the player and the club.
Greaves was even more prolific in the white of England. He marked his international debut against Peru in 1959 with a goal and over the next eight years he played times for his country and scored 44 times. He is third on the all-time England goal scorers list behind Bobby Charlton and Gary Lineker but his goals per game ratio remains superior to both.
Jimmy Greaves, the man the great Pele declared the greatest goalscorer he has ever seen.
For the Blues
The infamous RON “CHOPPER” HARRIS
Anyone who watched football in the 1960s and 70s will react to any mention of the name Chopper. To supporters of most clubs, Ron Harris was a brutal villain of the game, a no-nonsense stopper whose very presence on the pitch would raise the temperature by several degrees. To Chelsea supporters, however, he epitomised a never-say-die spirit that carried the Blues through to FA Cup and European Cup Winner's Cup success. His record of 655 League games for Chelsea is unlikely to be bettered and is a lasting testimony to a man who always gave 110% to his club.
