English sporting heroes don’t come much bigger than Martin Johnson. Even before he lifted the world cup in 2003, he held a unique position in world rugby being the only man ever to captain the British Lions on two separate tours, to South Africa in 1997 and Australia in 2001. For Leicester & England combined, Johnson racked up a mammoth 446 caps, captaining his country 39 times in the process and delivering the only world cup England have ever won.
Loveable maverick Merson played for Arsenal for 11 years, playing 423 times. Merse was a key part of their success under George Graham, winning the league twice; the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the European Cup Winners Cup. Known as a creator and goal scorer Merse went on to play 21 times for England, playing in the 1992 Euros, 1994 World Cup and the 1998 World Cup.
