A Year of Excellence: Celebrating 12 Months of the "New" MBN Events
This Christmas marks a significant milestone for MBN Events. It has been exactly 12 months since the iconic hospitality brand officially entered its newest chapter under fresh ownership—and what a year it has been.
Last year, Joe Wray and Will Samler (operating as Boot Room Hospitality) completed the acquisition of MBN from the Saracens Group. For the duo, it wasn't just a business transaction; it was a homecoming. Having both started their careers at MBN and spent over 20 years in the industry, their mission was clear: return the brand to its roots as a passionate, independent leader in UK sporting hospitality.
A 2025 to Remember
Over the past 12 months, the team has worked tirelessly to bring back the "independent spirit" that MBN was founded on by Mike Newlyn back in 1980. From high-profile testimonial dinners to the bespoke private celebrations that have become their trademark, the focus has remained on quality, networking, and that elusive "WOW" factor.
The year’s success was perhaps most visible at the recent Sportsman’s Christmas Lunch. Following a record-breaking sell-out of over 850 people in 2024, the 2025 edition saw nearly 1,000 guests gather at City Central at the HAC.
Looking Ahead to 2026
With the first year under their belts, Joe and Will aren’t slowing down. The 2026 calendar is already filling up with flagship dates, including:
As we raise a glass this festive season, we celebrate a year of independence, growth, and the continued legacy of one of the UK’s longest-established events businesses. Here’s to many more years of making memories.
